A fixed-supply, proof-of-work coin on Bitcoin code. 210 billion SKYDOGE maximum, one-minute blocks, and an emission that halves four times before ending entirely at block 9,450,000. Every figure below is verifiable against the chain.
// 01 — EMISSION
// 02 — HALVING SCHEDULE
| ERA | BLOCK | APPROX. DATE | REWARD |
|---|---|---|---|
| genesis | 0 | Dec 2022 | 50,000 |
| halving 1 | 2,100,000 | Dec 2026 | 25,000 |
| halving 2 | 4,200,000 | Dec 2030 | 12,500 |
| halving 3 | 6,300,000 | Dec 2034 | 6,250 |
| halving 4 | 8,400,000 | Nov 2038 | 3,125 |
| emission ends | 9,450,000 | Nov 2040 | 0 |
The reward halves every 2,100,000 blocks — roughly four years at one-minute blocks — but only four times. From block 8,400,000 the reward holds at 3,125 SKYDOGE until issuance ends at block 9,450,000, after which miners are paid by transaction fees alone.
// 03 — BLOCK 2
Block 2 minted 10,000,000,000 SKYDOGE in a single coinbase transaction. It is public and permanent, so here is exactly what it was for. It is two different things, and they should not be confused with one another.
Allocated at launch: founder 0.5%, development 0.8%, growth & marketing 0.9%, foundation 0.6% (percentages of max supply).
Not a premine. SkyDoge originally ran on the SHAndwich proof-of-work algorithm. When the chain moved to skydoge_hash, coins already mined on that first network were honoured so early miners kept the work they had done. The old chain was forked to a zero reward at block 77,100 — 77,100 × 50,000 = 3.855 B, rounded up to 4 B.
Verify it yourself. Block 2 coinbase 718ca658d999ca3d19faa2545e769ded5ec711c8f5d21d78ab946667e5b9ca94, paid 10 Dec 2022. Over 95% of all SKYDOGE that will ever exist is issued to miners, block by block. No ICO. No VC round.
// 03b — THE MIGRATION, ON THE RECORD
The swap was not a private arrangement. It was posted on the project's Bitcointalk announcement thread as it took place, and those posts are still there.
| DATE | ANNOUNCEMENT |
|---|---|
| 7 Dec 2022 | “There will still be an algorithm change in the coming days…” |
| 10 Dec 2022 | “The current mainnet will be forked to decrease the reward to 0 in order to facilitate the coming exchange for the new mainnet coins.” |
| 11 Dec 2022 | “The current network will fork at block 77100, rewards will go down to 0.” — new network live |
| 20 Dec 2022 | “We have started exchanging old coins for new coins.” |
December 2022 — attempted reorg. With the old chain's reward set to zero to enable the exchange, an attacker reorganised it to double-spend a large deposit. The exchange was paused, the double-spent coins were identified and excluded, and the chain was rolled back to a verified state. Coins that were legitimately held — including the attacker's own — were exchanged on the same terms as everyone else's. No balances were confiscated and no addresses were blacklisted.
